Six Entertainers Tie for Highest Nominations for Upcoming Grammy Awards
December 07, 2012- Fun., Frank Ocean and Mumford & Sons garnered the most nominations for the upcoming Grammy Awards to be held in Los Angeles on February 10. Each of the three acts was awarded for their talent with six nominations. They were joined by other typical nominees such as Kanye West and Jay-Z. West was also nominated for six awards.
Dan Auerbach, the drummer for The Black Keys is up for six, thanks to being nominated for producer of the year. The Black Keys were nominated for five, along with Chick Corea the jazz pianist and Miguel the R&B singer.
Jack Antonoff, the Fun. guitarist said its feels as if alternative music has returned. His band’s Some Nights, the gold selling album was nominated for album of the year and will compete against channel ORANGE, Ocean’s debut on a major label, El Camino by Black Keys, Babel by Mumford & Sons and Blunderbuss by Jack White.
Fun. has been nominated in all major categories including song and record of the year and best new artist for We Are Young, its breakthrough recording. Ocean scored nominations for three out of four top categories.
His single Thinkin Bout You, which had been originally written by Ocean for someone else, will compete in the category of record of the year against Lonely Boy by Black Keys, We Are Ever Getting Back Together, by Taylor Swift, Gotye and Kimbra’s Somebody I used to Know, Stronger by Kelly Clarkson and Fun.’s We Are Young.
The nomination show was in its fifth year and it was the first time it was telecast outside of Los Angeles, making its Nashville, Tennessee debut at Bridgestone Arena. That was the largest venue the nomination’s show has appeared in.
