The government of Venezuela announced on Thursday that Hugo Chavez the President of the country suffered severe bleeding complications during his surgery
December 14, 2012 – The government of Venezuela announced on Thursday that Hugo Chavez the President of the country suffered severe bleeding complications during his surgery for cancer in Cuba. The bleeding required a number of “corrective measures” to stop the flow of blood.
Ernesto Villegas, the Information Minister has been giving very frank reports regarding the delicate condition Chavez is in after his surgery. Villegas said Chavez was beginning to make progress following the complications that took place in the six-hour surgery on Tuesday.
Villegas added that the recovery process would require a long period to complete because of the complex surgery that was performed by Cuban doctors. The government has been giving updates on the condition of Chavez on a regular basis following his six-hour surgery.
These latest details of Chavez’s status came while supporters were holding church services to say prayers for him, as the Venezuelan people are acknowledging more and more that the country might go through a political change if Chavez is unable to be sworn in early in January for his upcoming fourth term.
Chavez has been the only ruler for 14 years holding together his socialist movement and did not groom any successor until last weekend when he announced that Nicolas Maduro, his current vice president, would take over if something were to happen to him.
Some people in Venezuela said that power struggles have already started within the Chavez movement. Maduro is the head of a civilian political wing of the government that is aligned closely with the communist government of Cuba.
Diosdado Cabello, the President of the National Assembly and a former officer in the military is said to wield great power in the military.
Throughout the close to 14 years Chavez has run the government, political difference and egos have taken a secondary role as he has been able to have his allies follow him and parrot all of his stances.
